Hollywood is still being unpatriotic and bashing the 45th President of the United States. Even though Hollywood lives in a bubble, they still feel that they are entitled to impose their political opinions on to everyday Americans.
The 2017 Screen Actors Guild Awards was just one big Trump bashing.
In fact, actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus spoke out against President Donald Trump’s controversial immigration executive orders at the SAG Awards ceremony:
“I want you all to know that I am the daughter of an immigrant,” the actress began. “My father fled religious persecution in Nazi-occupied France and I’m an American patriot and I love this country.
Because I love this country, I am horrified by its blemishes and this immigrant ban is a blemish and it is un-American.”
At the beginning of the ceremony, “Punked” actor, Ashton Kutcher, also took a shot at Trump’s executive orders on immigration and delivered a message of solidarity with airport protesters around the country.
“You are a part of the fabric of who we are, and we love you, and we welcome you,” Kutcher stated.
Then, Muslim actor Mahershala Ali delivered an emotional message about the importance of seeing past our differences at a time when tensions are running so high.
“My mother is an ordained minister. I’m a Muslim. She didn’t do backflips when I called her to tell her I converted 17 years go, but I tell you now, we put things to the side,” he said. “I’m able to see her.
She’s able to see me. We love each other. The love has grown, and that stuff is minutiae; it’s not that important,” he said to a cheering audience.”
Do you think it’s time that self-congratulatory stayed out of politics, supported our President, and dealt with the fact that they lost? After all, we had to put up with eight years of Obama, they can put up with four years of Trump.
