With the 2016 Presidential Election just around the corner, the climate of politics is just heating up.
With two presidential candidates that are on opposite ends of the spectrum – and are both controversial in their own right – plenty of people have taken the election pretty personally.
For example, one New York City jewelry company has taken it so personally, that they refused to accept Donald Trump’s daughter, Ivanka’s money.
Lady Grey received an order from Ivanka for a helix ear cuff for $84. While that doesn’t seem like much money – the company refused to accept it as profit.
However, they did send Ivanka her ear cuff, with a strongly worded message attached. The company posted the letter on their Instagram page, urging people to “pay it forward.”
The message read:
“Thank you so much for your web order! We’re happy to let you know that the proceeds of your sale have been generously donated to the America Immigration Council, the Everytown for Gun Safety Organization, and the Hillary Clinton Campaign. We hope you enjoy your new Lady Grey #helixearcuff”
While I’m not a Donald Trump supporter in any way, shape, or form – I found this pretty humorous and funny.
I hate Trump, with every single fiber of my being, so naturally, I got a laugh out of this. However, I also realize that Ivanka is not Donald Trump and shouldn’t be penalized for her father’s skewed perception of the world. Just because she bears his last name, does not mean she supports his beliefs.
In fact, Ivanka Trump is good friends with Hillary Clinton’s daughter, Chelsea. And, throughout the years, Ivanka herself has made donations to the Clinton foundation several times. Also, Ivanka is registered as “Independent,” and not “Republican.”
So, while I totally support the complete and utter bashing of Donald Trump and his sexist, racist and ridiculous views of the world – I’m not as supportive of completely dragging his daughter who had no choice but to be born from this monster’s sperm.
