Senator John McCain of Arizona is walking proof that we need term limits in the Senate and Congress.
McCain is foolishly still nursing a grudge against Trump about a perceived slight that Trump caused him, and it has been clouding his judgment ever since, much to the detriment of the American people.
During the campaign, McCain was one of the disloyal Republicans who attacked Trump and tried to get Democrat Hillary Clinton elected, and he later tried to smear Trump about Russia together with Lindsey Graham. Now McCain has launched his most unhinged attack yet against Trump, and he just got humiliated for it.
According to reports, McCain is now trying to smear President Trump for rejecting the Trans-Pacific Partnership, in a move clearly meant to please McCain’s Chinese friends and his deep-pocketed campaign donors.
Said McCain, “President Trump’s decision to formally withdraw from the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) is a serious mistake that will have lasting consequences for America’s economy and our strategic position in the Asia-Pacific region. TheU.S. can’t win if we forfeit opportunity.” He added that Trump’s choice “will create an opening for China to rewrite the economic rules of the road at the expense of American workers. And it will send a troubling signal of American disengagement in the Asia-Pacific region at a time we can least afford it.”
Unfortunately for McCain, he picked a fight with Trump using an issue that Trump has rock-solid backing from Americans for.
Even Bernie Sanders agreed with Trump over McCain, saying, “I am glad the Trans-Pacific Partnership is dead and gone. For the last 30 years, we have had a series of trade deals — including the North American Free Trade Agreement, permanent normal trade relations with China and others — which have cost us millions of decent-paying jobs and caused a ‘race to the bottom’ which has lowered wages for American workers.” Are you happy that Trump stuck it to greedy McCain and the Chinese and killed the TPP?
